Disaster Management at SIMC

Fire in the Mountain.. Run, run, run

Students at SIMC kicked off their second semester with a crash course in learning exactly how to deal with a crash. The Integrated Disaster Management Programme (IDMP) was a short module packed in seven days that brought in experts to give some gyaan on fire-fighting, first-aid, and other critical life-saving lessons.

The students picked up the intricacies of natural and man-made disasters, and also understood the country’s vulnerability to them. As war sirens are going off all around us, a critical look at the warfare of the future was imperative.

The batch learnt the dooming causality behind global warming in essence, and took a deeper look at the hazy issue of sustainable development. So now we know, global warming is kicking up a storm, quite literally.

The practical learning meted out by doctors in identifying emergency health issues and handling them the right way will go a long way in making us more responsible and capable of protecting lives around us.

Yes, SIMC students are now a safer lot.
